Eco-solvent inks were developed as a more used friendly alternative to the strong solvent inks for shops that don’t print every day. These light solvent inks, which utilize a mineral oil as a vehicle, are less likely to clog than the fast drying strong solvent inks and require less maintenance.

For the most part, you can print on the same types of media that you use for the solvent inks. There are a variety of ink sets with expanded ranges of color that are available in the eco-solvent category. These pigments inks provide good durability for outdoor applications, such as vehicle graphics, and good image reproduction for indoor applications, such as P.O.P displays, trade show and museum graphics. The downside of these inks is that they don’t dry as fast as the solvent.

The dye sublimation inks are a pigment suspended in a liquid solvent, like water. The images are initially printed on coated heat-resistant transfer paper as a reverse image of the final design, which is then transferred onto polyester fabric in a heat press operating at a temperature around 180 to 210 C (375 F).There are many advantages of dye sublimation ink,such as Good image printing, ,waterproof, washing standing and so on.

Sublimation inks produce brilliant colour and good light fastness when applied to polyester and polyester coated substrates. Applying heat to the printed image with a press, whether through transfer paper or directly, fixes these vivid inks into the polyester substrate allowing the item to be washed time and time again.Sublimation inks mianly used for Textile,Hardware ,fashion,polyester,sports weard and so on.

Next,UV inks are rising in popularity for several reasons. Both water-based inks and solvent-based inks require a drying process which takes time and also reduces the efficacy of the ink as ink costs in volume and around 40% of the ink base is lost in drying or curing.

UV inks offer many benefits such as being more environmentally friendly than solvent-based inks, good opacity, light-fastness, resistance to smearing, sharp contrast, and a nice gloss. The UV inks, again because of the lack of evaporative agents, will maintain consistency throughout the whole press run, never getting thick or sticky.

Even water-based inks often use chemical catalyst components that require harsh cleaners to remove, when cleaning the printing equipment. Cleaning must be done on a regular basis to prevent the plugging of the printing cells, leading to high costs over time. Thus UV inks save time, money, and environmental waste by greatly reducing the need for cleaning.

I think you must know that there are three kinds of ink (dye ink, pigment ink and sublimation ink) on the market, but you may don’t know how to choose them. Sublimation ink is a dye-based ink which has a very high transfer rate.
It is unique in its ability to convert from a solid to a gas without going through a liquid form (Just like dry ice). The transfer rate on the common color jet paper is 80%, and the transfer rate of the special heat transfer paper is more than 90%.It is suitable for sublimation inkjet printers.

Usage: used for thermal transfer products, such as polyester cloth and other chemical fiber fabrics.
Advantage: bright color, scratch-resistant, washable, waterproof, fastness.

DYE ink is a molecular-level fully dissolved ink, it dissolves in water like sugar does in water completely. It’s also known for easily obtaining saturated, brilliant colors due to its small molecular size, 1.5-4 nanometers (1 nanometer=1/1000 of a micrometer, 1 micrometer=1/1000 of a millimeter). But the dye will re-dissolve and the ink will flow across the paper if drops of water hit the paper. For normal document printing on inkjet paper, photo paper, pvc card etc, we would recommend dye ink as it is much economic compared to pigment ink.

Usage: It is suitable for common printers ,can be used on the normal document printing which is not used for a long period of time.
Advantages: will not plug the nozzles, eye-catching colorful printing, low cost.
Disadvantages: easily faded in direct sunlight or water immersion.

Pigment inks use tiny particles of colored material to provide ink color, rather than paper-staining dyes. Pigment inks are comprised of tiny, encapsulated particles that sit on top of the paper, instead of being absorbed into a paper is fibers, which is what happens with dyes. Most pigment ink printers also offer more subtle color shading, since they use up to eight different ink colors. Pigment inks are much more stable than dye-based inks, and can last more than 200 years on some paper types, under ideal (museum-quality lighting and framing) conditions.

Usage: outdoor used document, T-shirt printing on dark based / light based cotton materials with transfer papers.
Advantage: water-proof & UV resistant.
Disadvantage: large particles may cause plug of the nozzles, the color is not so vivid as dye ink, higher cost than dye ink.
