How Much Do You Know about The Difference between The Dye Ink And The Pigment Ink ?
Hi, Nice to see you again. From the side of the Digital inkjet printing, the water-based inkjet ink is the prior choice of people. And the water based ink can also be divided into the dye ink and the pigment ink. But there are many kinds of inks , such as the dye ink and the pigment ink. Then today I will show you the difference about the dye ink and the pigment ink.
Dye Ink
Dyestuffs are made from water from natural raw materials (eg, some plants) or synthetic materials (the main source).
Advantages and disadvantages
One of its advantages is that only a very small amount of light is diffused, so the color of the printed works is full and bright, and another advantage is that the ink can be better dispersed on the paper coating to keep the same type of paper luster.
Although many aspects of the manufacturers have made progress, but the dye for light, humidity and oxidation is very sensitive, this shortcoming will cause a very negative impact, and people tend to pursue the durability of the work.
Dye ink production costs are not high, generally used for office printing or amateur
photography (except for individual special circumstances).
Pigment Ink
This ink contains a pigment (organic molecular material), encapsulated in synthetic resin, and then suspended in the liquid. Pigment molecules are much larger than dyes.
Advantages and disadvantages
Due to the size, structure and complexity of pigment molecules, this ink is more resistant to light, moisture resistance and antioxidant (including ozone) and other characteristics. Pigment ink also has its flaws, its molecules are larger than the dye molecules, the ink can not be completely attached to the coating and will change the original surface appearance of some paper (the main glossy paper).
The adverse effects of the same color and bronzing are another drawback of this ink
technology. Pigment ink is very complex and expensive to produce, so most of the time only for professional or semi-professional printers, used to print pay attention to preservation works.
Okay, These all above is all my share about the difference of the dye ink and the pigment ink. Hope this article can be useful to you.
